Our Itinerary
Want to meet the intrepid flashpacker and his lovely wife as they circle the globe? Maybe split a villa?
Know somebody we should meet up with? Dive shop owner? Crazy friend with wanderlust and a Land Rover? Lonely owner of astoundingly beautiful villa in Florence?
Here’s where we’re headed next — if you know people, places, or experiences we simply must meet, go, or have — get in touch!
March 5 - June 26, 2008:
Southeast Asia
We fly out of Vancouver on March 3 and show up in Bangkok a few days later. We’re both beach heads, and we’ll just be starting the rehabilitation process after 5 years (me) and 8 years (Lindsie) at full-time day jobs… so after a few days in the city, we’ll head for the Gulf coast in the Ko Chang area to chill out for a while and celebrate non-working life.
Mid-March: Off to Cambodia to see Angkor Watt with a couple of Vancouver friends on vacation there. Hi Colleen and Ernie!
Mid-late March: Meet up with my dad, who is wintering in Ao Nang.
That’s as much meetup planning as we’ve done so far. We’ll spend the balance of March, April, May, June exploring beaches, making tourist runs (likely to Vietnam, possibly Bali or India), and reporting on the wonders to be discovered in Southeast Asia.
June 27 - September 26, 2008:
Australia
After a short stopover in Singapore, we’re off to Sydney. We’ll likely spend a little time in a hostel or hotel up to the end of the month, and are currently thinking we’ll spend a few days exploring the area around Sydney and looking for an apartment to rent. After that, take some trips to wine country, surf beaches, and the like.
September 26 - 28, 2008:
Singapore
Just a quick stopover en route to Europe.
We’ll get foot massages in the airport (thanks for the tip, Justine!), check into a hotel, and wander Singapore a little.
September 28, 2008 - ???:
Europe
We fly into Frankfurt in the middle of Oktoberfest — I really can’t begin to express how much this excites me.
When the hangovers fade, we’re off to Amsterdam, then heading south for the winter. Plans are vague, but likely include Greece, Italy, Spain, and Portugal. We’re researching a little wine-related business, so expect plenty of reporting from deep in the vineyards.
